BKRC Programs
As a relatively small team, we are able to tailor our development program to the needs of the individual athletes. Generally, our programs are organized as follows:

Junior IV – V (Ages 7 – 12) – This program is suitable for skiers who have little or no experience, but also provides more focused race training for athletes who are ready for more advanced training and competition.

Junior I-II-III (Ages 13-18) – This is a more advanced racing program that targets more experienced athletes preparing for higher levels of competition. We also welcome those who are just getting started.

Masters Programs (Adults, ages 19+) – This program is designed for adults who wish to develop their alpine skiing and racing skills to the highest potential. It is an ideal program for club racers who want to dust their competition and for parents of younger racers who just want to become great skiers!

Practice Dates & Times
On-snow training begins in mid-December (conditions permitting) and continues through the end of the ski season. Weekend practices are run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each Saturday and Sunday at Blue Knob All Seasons Resort in Claysburg, PA.

We strive to provide a low pressure, supportive environment. The club’s objectives are to develop accomplished skiers and foster good sportsmanship through competition. The training program focuses on preparation for ski racing, but the results are really to rapidly develop strong, confident skiers with a life long love for the sport. All practice sessions are voluntary, but members are encouraged to participate as much as possible to receive the full benefits of the program.

Training Techniques
Practices consist of group drills, gate training, and directed free skiing. We also use videotape analysis to help young racers improve their technique. In the early season, we tend to focus more on drills and techniques than on gates. Practices are always about having fun and enjoying the mountain and the snow.

Racing Opportunities
Racing is not mandatory, but is a fun part of the experience. While newer members generally focus on improving their skiing, most of our racers enter at least one or two races per season. Races are held at Seven Springs and other Pennsylvania ski areas. See the Racing page for additional information.

Racers who finish with sufficient points qualify to participate in a PARA Ski Derby in late February or early March, where they compete against the best racers from other PARA regions. Top finishers move on to higher USSA junior competitions. Masters athletes may also participate in American Ski Racing Alliance (ASRA) and other events at local ski areas.
